Moorhen chick – Ashburn Gallery
There are Moorhens and then there are Moorhen chicks. They have hilariously large feet compared to the size of their bodies and look like tiny black pompons on sticks. I’m always surprised to see their jumbly, twiggy nests in open water for all to see. Although they flee very fast at the sight of a heron.

For sale at the Ashburn Gallery, Ashburton, Devon. If you are interested in buying this piece, please contact me and I can liaise with the gallery to organise the purchase and bring it back to my West London studio or organise shipping.
Moorhen chicks have comically huge webbed feet. They need them to swim and to wade through the water.
